VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At the Yangebup Family Centre, we envision a future where reconciliation is lived every day in our relationships, our programs, and our shared commitment to truth, justice, and healing. We believe early learning is a powerful platform to foster understanding, respect, and lasting change.  We acknowledge the significance of the local Beeliar Boodjar to the Noongar people and pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We recognise the enduring spiritual and cultural connection to this Land and are committed to Truth-Telling, listening, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a spirit of partnership and mutual respect.

We are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and connected, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Through genuine engagement with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, we aim to build a culturally safe space that honours the knowledge, voices, and identities of First Nations peoples.

We respectfully incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programs and practices and recognise that to build a better and more reconciled future, we must first acknowledge and understand the truths of our shared history.

Our aspiration is for children, staff, families and the wider community, to become lifelong advocates for reconciliation modelling respect, empathy, and a commitment to justice in their homes and communities.
