VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Tillys Play & Education Centre – Rutherford is committed to cultivating deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures while authentically working towards equality and equity in educational outcomes and reconciliation. We strive to have a whole centre approach to meaningfully embedding First Nations peoples’ perspectives into our programs holistically, with the support of families, local First Nation Elders and the wider community.

We recognise that our reconciliation journey will be unique and that we will face many challenges. We are committed to facing those challenges and having a community that is educated and aware of the true histories of Australia and the ongoing discrimination experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples since colonisation. We will respect First Nations peoples’ views and beliefs in our practices with children and families.

Our vision for reconciliation is for Aboriginal and Torres Islander peoples’ cultural identities to be respected and visible throughout our centre. We strive to be a culturally safe and inclusive environment, ensuring that all First Nations families and community members feel a sense of belonging.
