VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Sandstone Lakes Early Learning Centre acknowledges and values the cultural histories, heritages and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our vision for reconciliation is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised as the First Nations people of Australia. Where all Australians embrace the Elders past, present and future for the wisdom and knowledge they hold. We are contributing to an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel a sense of belonging and strong connections within our learning community; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural identities are respected and we provide a culturally responsive environment; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children are recognised and nurtured as the creators, thinkers and doers of today and tomorrow. For our children, families and staff, we aim to contribute towards an Australian society that values and recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and heritages as a proud part of a shared national identity. To create a community where all Australians understand and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, rights and experiences, resulting in stronger relationships based on trust and respect, free of racism. Through education, training and the creation and continuation of embedded and sustainable practices, we will support our children now and into the future to think, act and respond with respect, dignity and inclusion
