VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Papilio Early Learning Point Cook, reconciliation is at the heart of our centre and the broader Point Cook community.  Reconciliation goes beyond symbolic gestures; it requires a deep connection and commitment to promoting respect, equality, inclusion and equity.

We commit to actively acknowledging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First People of this Land. We honour and respect First Nations People's deep connections to Country, culture, and spirituality. We are committed to learning about strengthening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures and perspectives and to actively listen to their guidance and value their wisdom. We take very seriously our responsibility to ensure the next generation of Australians grow up with connection to and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, peoples, and histories.

The way we understand, and value First Nations peoples' histories and cultures is integral to our journey. We are committed to educating our staffing cohort about what it means to respectfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum and program.

We strive to create an environment where our children learn about and appreciate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and how this is critical to meaningfully engaging with reconciliation within our community. We are dedicated to providing a safe space for children to be curious and to acknowledge, learn about and celebrate First Nations people and cultures.

When we work together with our families, children, and communities we can create a future of harmony and unity and lay the foundation for genuine reconciliation.
