VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Belonging: At Oxley Park OSHC, our vision for Reconciliation is to build an inclusive space, in which every member of our community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families can develop a genuine sense of belonging in a place where cultural safety can be seen, felt and heard.     Being: We challenge ourselves to be present and to learn- through strengthening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, true histories and perspectives; to share- the knowledge and wisdom we have learned; and to connect- through developing and maintaining relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities that are based on deep listening and respect.      Becoming: We aim to come together to challenge bias, racism and injustice and we commit to working towards building a community where nobody, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families are left behind or disconnected to their sense of self. In this community we aim to develop a sense of empowerment, as a means of becoming strong in identity, voice and pride; and to strive to create a positive future for all people and for country.
