At Cranbourne North YMCA Early Learning Centre, our vision for reconciliation is to create a culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures, and contributions are embedded meaningfully in our everyday practice.  We acknowledge the Bunurong People as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our centre is located, and we pay our deepest respects to their Elders past and present. We recognise and honour the unbroken connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples maintain with Country, waterways, skies, and all living things.  Our vision is for all children, families, and educators to walk together in the spirit of reconciliation. We  deepen our understanding of the richness and diversity of First Peoples cultures, histories and perspectives and to support children to develop respect, empathy, and curiosity about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures and perspectives.  Through ongoing, respectful relationships with local Aboriginal communities, and through embedding First Nations peoples perspectives across our curriculum and environment, we are committed to promoting equity, equality, unity, and justice. We understand that reconciliation is a journey of learning and action, and we are dedicated to strengthening our knowledge and pedagogical practices to ensure every child experiences a sense of belonging to our service community.  As part of the wider YMCA community, we take seriously our role in contributing to a reconciled, equal and equitable Australia where the truths of the past are acknowledged, and the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard, valued, and celebrated.      Â
