VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation encompasses four main themes – respect, inclusion, awareness and acknowledgement.

We believe reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians. This supports us as we move forward and create a nation that is supported and strengthened by respectful relationships and connections between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We continue to respectfully embed meaningful Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum, the service and wider community, deepening our cultural responsiveness as an educating team. We continue to build our understanding of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, heritages and cultures. We acknowledge and deeply value the critical importance of education in reconciliation and the impact this has on the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people.

We know that children are capable and confident, and we view them as future leaders, decision makers and informed citizens. Our vision for reconciliation must incorporate their knowledge and understanding, and we take this journey of learning, reflection and acknowledgement together. We know that the values that are instilled in them now will travel with them as they move through life.

Reconciliation must be more than one off celebration and tokenistic resources. Instead, it is a promise. A promise to continually develop understanding, implement change, seek new information and commit to ongoing and constant reflection.
