At Alfred Academy, we envision an inclusive, respectful, and culturally safe environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities feel welcomed, valued, and supported. We are committed to fostering meaningful relationships with First Nations peoples, promoting understanding and respect for their cultures, histories, and contributions, and integrating this into our early childhood education practices. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) aims to nurture a culture that develops a deep appreciation for diversity, inclusion, and social justice, ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are respectfully acknowledged, celebrated, and embedded in all aspects of our service. Through this, we will actively contribute to closing the gap and promoting equality, with a focus on building a brighter and more equitable future for all Australians. We aim to foster strong, respectful, and reciprocal relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and engage with Elders/community leaders to support cultural exchange and integration of Indigenous perspectives into the curriculum. We seek to involve parents and families in reconciliation activities, ensuring their voices are included to the learning process. At Alfred Academy, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Land, and we will continue our journey so that staff are equipped with cultural awareness and training to support our understanding and appreciation of the diverse histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We will deliver a curriculum that reflects and acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, stories, and languages.
