Community Kids Montebello are committed to reconciling and maintaining respectful and genuine relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people.
Our vision for reconciliation is a culture of acknowledgment, understanding, compassion and awareness of the ongoing injustices of First Nations peoples since colonisation. We strive to bridge the gap of equity and equality through respectfully integrating the knowledges, histories, cultures, perspectives and traditions of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community into our curriculum.
We respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ongoing connections to lands, waters, animals and spirits, and recognise their extensive wisdoms, experiences and knowledges.
We are dedicated to being an inclusive community that is respectful of, and responsive to, the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We aim to build strong relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Elders and leaders, seeking authentic opportunities to work in collaboration. By working together, we aim to foster cultural exchange and healing.
We are committed to educating current and future generations to build relationships with, and respect, the First Peoples of this Country, First Nations peoples.
We strive to create an environment at Community Kids Montebello that acknowledges and respects diversity, promoting reconciliation, and elevating the voice of the Boandik people.
