VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Magill Kindergarten, we recognise reconciliation as a continuous, collective journey grounded in respect, reflection and action. Our journey is guided by the knowledges, priorities and lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, in particular the Kaurna people, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our kindergarten is located.   We acknowledge the enduring connection of the Kaurna people to Country, culture and community, and commit to honouring this relationship through authentic engagement, listening, learning and practice.   We believe authentic relationships are central to Reconciliation. We will foster reciprocal, responsive and respectful partnerships with Kaurna Elders, families and community members, and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities more broadly. These relationships will guide shared learning, truth-telling and deeper understanding.   We are committed to acting with integrity and courage, acknowledging that this work requires vulnerability, ongoing reflection and a willingness to challenge structural inequities and biases.  Within our learning community, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, perspectives and voices will be meaningfully embedded, valued and celebrated. We strive to create a culture where all children, families and educators recognise their shared responsibility to be allies, advocates and active participants in Reconciliation.   Through our teaching, relationships and everyday actions, we will contribute to a community founded on respect, equity and unity as we walk together toward a Reconciled future for all.
