VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Reconciliation at Goodstart Payneham means friendship and togetherness. We respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, histories, traditions into our service and acknowledging their connections to Land. As a team we will engage in learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples ways of knowing and being, respectfully including this within our programs, pedagogy and practices.

The children, educators and families will have opportunities to build their own trusting relationships with the First Nations community through music, movement, symbols, play and research. We will continue to foster a community of practice and promote community awareness regarding the importance of respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders perspectives. Where appropriate, we will continue to respectfully incorporate language into daily programs and transitions, which will be done through partnerships with the Kaurna community as a way of building children's awareness and understanding of the connections between culture, symbols and language. Our promise as a community is to build an awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to our children, families and educators.
