VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Ballara Park Kindergarten recognises that we are situated on Kaurna Land, and we are committed to reconciliation through building and encouraging respectful and genuine relationships within our environment and with the local First Nations community. In doing so, we commit to cultivating and embedding respect for the worlds longest surviving cultures.  We will continue to actively acknowledge and respect the histories, cultures, connections and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, recognising that First Nations Peoples are Traditional Custodians of the Land, and that the Kaurna People are the holders of Native Title of the Adelaide Plains region that we live, learn and play on. We recognise the impact of past and present colonial injustices relating to Lands, cultures, languages and families and the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the face of these injustices.  Through our early years' education programmes, we are committed to providing opportunities for people of all cultures in our community to work and learn together, to strengthen an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and values and to develop mutual respect and relationships. We will continue to foster opportunities to connect with, and actively listen to, Elders and Traditional Custodians so that First Nations cultures, knowledge and perspectives can be respectfully and meaningfully shared, with children, families and educators, within a learning environment that is culturally safe, supportive and inclusive.
