VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Butterflies Early Learning Centre, nestled on Gimuy, Walubarra and Yidinji Country, we honour the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples — the First Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn, and grow. Our vision for reconciliation is grounded in truth, respect, and unity. We are committed to creating a culturally safe, inclusive environment where all children, families, and educators feel deeply connected and valued. We acknowledge the pain of the past, the ongoing impacts on First Nations peoples and walk forward with open hearts, committed to listening, learning, and leading with integrity. Through meaningful relationships with and deep listening to First Nations peoples, we respectfully aim to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our everyday practices, curriculum, and decision-making. We recognise children as active participants in reconciliation, capable of learning and leading positive change through empathy and understanding. We will continue to build genuine partnerships with local Elders and community members, ensuring their voices guide us in honouring Country, Culture and Story. We are dedicated to ongoing cultural learning and reflection, knowing that reconciliation is not a destination, but a shared journey of growth, healing, and connection. Together, we walk hand in hand with the oldest continuing cultures on Earth — towards a future built on shared knowledge, mutual respect, and collective hope.
