VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Alexandra/Mooloolaba Community Kindergarten, we envision a future where reconciliation is not just a word but embedded into the fabric of our educational ethos. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is our commitment to acknowledging and honouring the rich heritage of the Traditional Custodians of the Land, the Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi people. We recognise the importance of acknowledging Country and that this is the first step towards building meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. It is our pledge to ensure that every child, educator, and member of our community understands and respects the deep connection between the Land and its Traditional Custodians. Our vision extends beyond a mere acknowledgment; it encompasses genuine engagement and partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We are committed to fostering authentic relationships with Elders and Traditional Custodians, recognising them as the First Peoples of this Land. In our everyday learning environments, reconciliation is not a standalone concept but intricately and respectfully woven into our curriculum, practices, and interactions. Through culturally responsive teaching methods, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are integrated into all aspects of our early childhood education, fostering a profound understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures among children. We aspire for our kindergarten to be a place where reconciliation is not just taught but lived, where every child grows up with a deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories, and contributions to our shared society. Our RAP is our roadmap towards a future where reconciliation flourishes, enriching the lives of all who pass through our doors. Together, we strive towards a future where reconciliation is not just an aspiration but a lived reality.
