Here at Kool Kids Mermaid Waters we pride ourselves on both acknowledging the Traditional Owners of this Land on which we live, learn and play. We aim to do this by coming together with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and the wider community and working in partnership towards reconciliation. As a centre, we believe that cultural responsiveness is extremely important for every staff, children, families and the wider community to engage with, and to develop our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout our programs. We will continue to create a culturally safe space and provide opportunities for educators to further embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander teachings within their programs. As a centre we feel that further improving our knowledge of not just Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, but all cultures within our centre is vital in ensuring we implement teachings in appropriate ways.Â
