Harty Street sits on Turrbal and Jagera Land, we recognise the importance our relationships and deep connections with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. These collaborative relationships have been formed over many years and we are committed to strengthening our partnerships. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members as partners in our journey towards reconciliation and their views and opinions will continue to be sought and respected.
Reconciliation is important to all staff here at Harty Street, providing opportunities to respectfully deepen our own knowledge and understanding of the cultures, histories, and languages of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while respectfully sharing these understandings with the children we teach. By continuing to respectfully embed the perspectives of First Nations peoples into the daily routines and ongoing programs in both Units, staff will further promote reconciliation. These practices will be continuously reflected on and reviewed to ensure they are authentic and, when possible, reflected on in partnership with the members of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Staff at Harty Street are excited to continue to promote and work towards reconciliation. We will continue to work with the local community to develop respectful and collaborative relationships that benefit all involved.
