VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Goodstart Third Avenue, our vision for reconciliation is to create a learning environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities are not only respected but acknowledged. We aim to build a strong foundation for mutual understanding, cultural awareness, and collaboration, ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are deeply embedded in all aspects of our learning and daily activities. Our commitment to reconciliation involves fostering meaningful, long-term relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, promoting the recognition and celebration of their cultures, histories, and contributions to Australia. We strive to create a learning space where every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to connect with, learn about, and appreciate the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. Our vision is to establish an ongoing, respectful relationship between Goodstart Third Avenue and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We aim to build partnerships with local Elders, community leaders, and families, ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the educational experience for all children. This collaboration will guide our efforts to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in every aspect of our centre's programs, policies, and practices. Culturally Competent Staff and Educators: We believe that reconciliation begins with our staff and educators. Therefore, we envision a team of educators and staff who are not only culturally responsive, but deeply committed to understanding the lived experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This will be achieved through ongoing professional development, training, and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, enabling us to provide a culturally safe and responsive environment for all children.
