VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Sparrow Early Learning Baxter our vision for reconciliation is to create a place of equity, equality, dignity and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  Developed with our team of educators, our commitment includes policy and curriculum audits and cultural responsiveness training for all staff, to help engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children to develop an understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, cultures and contributions. Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) will support the teams in our services’ commitment to become an organisation where we model and foster respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children We are committed to building a service where all children, staff, families and the wider community acknowledge and understand the shared histories of this country and appreciate the diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout Australia.  Through our RAP we will promote the inclusion of appropriate and relevant resources that will improve awareness and understanding of First Nations peoples, cultures and contributions, to strengthen engagement with all children, families and community members in all our early learning programs. We will use the five dimensions of reconciliation; race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity, unity, and historical acceptance to guide our reconciliation journey.
