Reconciliation is a journey that requires understanding, respect, and meaningful connections between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all Australians. Our staff have come together to express what reconciliation means to us and to outline our shared aspirations for a more inclusive and respectful society. Through collaborative discussions, we have identified key values and commitments that guide our vision for reconciliation. Key Aspirations Learning and Acknowledgement •Recognising and honouring the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the Land. •Understanding and acknowledging the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures. •Acknowledging the history and experiences of First Nations peoples, including past injustices, with sensitivity and respect.
Respect and Inclusion •Treating everyone equally and fostering a society built on fairness. •Respecting and valuing the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, languages, and traditions. •Encouraging the sharing of knowledge, art, and stories as a way to deepen cultural understanding.
Connection and Collaboration •Strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. •Building connections that support reconciliation through education, awareness, and action. •Working together to care for the land, waterways, and animals in a way that reflects the wisdom of Traditional Custodians. Our Commitment We commit to fostering a workplace and community where reconciliation is actively pursued through learning, respect, and meaningful engagement. By embracing these values, we aim to create a future where all Australians walk together in unity and understanding. Through these collective aspirations, we strive to build a society where the past is acknowledged, diversity is celebrated, and opportunities are shared equally among all Australians.
