At Church Hill Kindergarten, we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we play and learn, and we honour their continuing connection to Country. We recognise the strength, resilience, and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and commit to walking together toward a more just, equitable and inclusive Australia. Reconciliation is a shared journey that involves truth-telling, respect, and building strong relationships between First Nations Peoples and the wider Australian community. Guided by the five dimensions of reconciliation Race Relations, Equality and Equity, Institutional Integrity, Unity, and Historical Acceptance we embed these principles in our everyday practice. We are committed to inclusive, strengths-based language that values the cultural identities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all people, and promotes genuine understanding. We avoid deficit or possessive language and seek guidance from local First Nations communities as we ensure cultural safety and respect. Our curriculum respectfully embeds First Nations peoples perspectives and voices, ensuring that children see diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures reflected in learning. We nurture respectful two-way relationships with families and communities and ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children feel a strong sense of belonging to our kindergarten community. Through collaboration, listening and learning from and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, we strive to support the self-determination of First Nations Peoples. Our commitment to reconciliation is ongoing woven through our relationships, environments, and educational practice as we work together toward a shared and respectful future.
