At World of Learning 1 in Chelsea, our vision for reconciliation is to foster childrens, families staff and the wider communities understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures, and challenge biases that can impact on childrens future attitudes towards cultural diversity. We believe all educators have the potential to make a significant and positive difference every day.
Reconciliation is everyone’s business, every day, and we are working to embed this into our day to day practice.
We aim to be proactive where we live, work and socialise to keep up the momentum for positive change.
G8 Education as a company aims to encompass and include all cultures and beliefs within our community, including First Nation Peoples’ cultures. We aim to ensure that everyone is welcome and feels a sense of comfort and belonging within our environment.
Article 14 of the United Nations Rights of Indigenous Peoples states: “Indigenous children, particularly children, have the right to all levels and forms of education of the State without discrimination.”
We aim to provide this, as well as continue to reflect upon and embrace all cultures and beliefs within our learning environments, without prejudice, to ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging, being and becoming, as well as learns to embrace unique cultures within our setting.
“Indigenous peoples have the right to stablish and control their education systems and institutions providing education in their own languages, in a manner appropriate to their cultural methods of teaching and learning.” Article 14, Education, United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People.
We want to be voices for truth-telling and fairness and help create a better country for future generations.
