At Mayfield Lilydale, our vision for reconciliation is to make a commitment to learning, strengthening, and developing a greater awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. We will do this by respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our programs and practices.  

We aim for children, educators, and families to learn and appreciate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures through building meaningful relationships and respectful collaborations with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Our educators are committed to ongoing learning and support children’s development of knowledge around reconciliation.  

We have an understanding that reconciliation is more than making symbolic gestures. We know that reconciliation is a commitment to promoting respect, inclusion, equality, and equity.
