As we look toward the future, Goodstart Early Learning Mooroolbark is committed to fostering meaningful and enduring relationships with First Nations peoples. We strive to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through respectful collaboration, open dialogue, and active listening.
Our educators are dedicated to embedding First Nations perspectives, knowledges, and ways of being into all areas of our curriculum and practice. With the guidance of our First Nations educator, Jakarah, we are deepening our cultural understanding through lived experience, storytelling, and mentorship. We are committed to embracing Aboriginal pedagogies, such as the 8 Ways of Learning and Possum Skin Pedagogy, to enrich childrens learning and connection to Country.
We recognise the importance of truth-telling and the need to prioritise cultural inclusion through opportunities such as Welcome to Country and the presence of Elders within our service. These connections are vital to our growth as a community and to our shared journey toward reconciliation.
At the heart of our vision is a commitment to healing, celebration, and education. We honour the histories and cultures of Australias First Nations peoples and are dedicated to creating an inclusive and culturally safe learning environment for all children and families.
This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal Land.
