Vermont Primary School Kindergarten is committed to the cultural safety of, and equal and equitable opportunities for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. We aim to actively include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families within our service, ensuring their safety and support.
We commit to providing an educational program that strengthens understanding about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures and perspectives and providing regular training opportunities for staff on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures and cultural responsiveness. We aim for policies, procedures, systems and processes to be culturally safe and inclusive, meeting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families.
Reconciliation in our early childhood education is reflected in our pedagogies and practices, supporting our educational community to develop their understanding of the importance of reconciliation and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.
