Box Hill North Kindergarten dedicates itself to the ongoing acknowledgement by respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ perspectives throughout our programs and practices.
We believe reconciliation is an integral part of being connected with and contributing to the First Nations community. It is about recognising and supporting the reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and non-Indigenous people. We will do this through our curriculum, professional practice, and community engagement. We believe that reconciliation builds bridges between our kindergarten and the wider community which is an area we value highly at our kindergarten.
Our goal is to ensure Box Hill North Kindergarten is consistently working towards reconciliation through our words, actions, and daily practices. We aim to provide our children with the opportunity to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures through play-based, engaging experiences, encourage families to extend their knowledge and connection alongside their children and to foster our own personal knowledge and growth as teachers. By furthering our knowledge, we as teachers will be inspired to further develop skills to meaningfully connect with and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities in the classroom.
