At Goodstart Early Learning - Box Hill Canterbury Road, we are committed to engaging with reconciliation on both a personal, community, and professional level, creating warm environments that foster relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and Non-Indigenous Australians.Â
Through advocating for social justice, reconciliation, equality, and equity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community, we will continue to ensure that we are creating culturally safe environments for learning. We will do this through teachers and educators actively engaging in maintaining proficiency in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers focus areas 1.4 and 2.4, whilst abiding by Child Safe Standard 1 and EYLF V2 outcomes. Â
This standard ensures that our service is a culturally safe environment and is a place where unique identities and experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families are acknowledged and respected.     Â
Through this vision, we will continue to lay foundations by respectfully embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures, truth- telling, perspectives and contemporary issues into curriculum planning and teaching. This will strengthen future generations to acknowledge and recongise the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, languages and heritages as a proud part of a shared identity. We acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the world's oldest living culture and will continue to build partnerships based on trust, respect, and recognition of the rights of First Nation peoples. Â
We recognise and value our learnings as we build and maintain strong relationships between our centre and the children, families and communities with whom we work with.   Â
On a foundation of equity, equality, integrity, and respect, we create high quality early learning experiences for all children. Our centre commits to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and Non-Indigenous Australians.
