At the heart of our reconciliation journey at Ness Reserve Pre-School lie the principles of kinship, equality and equity, harmony and acceptance.
We are committed to creating a culturally safe and responsive environment within our centre and our vision for reconciliation is to cultivate a community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are not just heard but truly listened to, where they are not merely acknowledged but genuinely recognised, and where they are not just included but deeply valued. We believe reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility and strive to ensure that our community — staff, children and families — actively builds understanding, respect and connection with the histories, cultures and contributions of First Nations peoples.
We recognise that the pathway to reconciliation is ongoing and as such we commit to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our kindergarten program. We will do this by seamlessly immersing our Ness community—including committee, staff, families, children and the wider community—in learning opportunities that support a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ways of knowing and learning.
Together, as a community, we endeavour to weave a tapestry of unity, diversity, and mutual respect, honouring the rich heritage and unique contributions of all peoples, and forging a path towards a more inclusive, and harmonious society for generations to come.
