VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Carinya, we are dedicated to affirming our ongoing commitment to reconciliation. We acknowledge and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia, and we pay our deepest respects to the Darug and Gundungurra Peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which Carinya is situated.

Our vision is to foster active engagement with reconciliation at both personal and professional levels. We strive to create an environment that upholds social justice, equality, and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and for all people. We acknowledge that First Nations peoples are the knowledge holders of this Land and we commit to embedding this truth into our everyday practices and learning.

As a service, we are proud to connect with and learn from local Elders and First Nations communities.  We invite Elders and community members to share their wisdom and cultural knowledge of Country with us and the children.

We are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our curriculum and we will provide each educator with opportunities to be supported and trained to respectfully teach about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and histories.

At Carinya, we hope to proudly demonstrate that our service is a safe, inclusive, and welcoming place for First Nations children, families, and communities. Our vision is to ensure future generations grow with a deep respect for and connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, stories, and heritages as a central part of our shared identity.
