VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Minchinbury Preschool and Nursery, we acknowledge the Dharug people as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play. We also recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Original Custodians of Australia and value their cultures as an integral part of the Australian identity.

We are committed to reconciliation, and we understand the importance of culture for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in developing their identity and sense of self. We believe that all Australians should learn about and understand the diverse histories and current affairs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is essential for Australian children to grow up in a society that respects and appreciates the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as part of our national identity.

At Minchinbury Preschool and Nursery, we aim for our community, environment, and interactions within our service to reflect, promote, and support the diverse identities and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. Our vision is for all stakeholders at the service to collectively work together to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to challenging insensitive and biased attitudes, practices, and behaviours and ensuring that our current and future practices, publications, and policies within our Early Learning Centre are respectful of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, acknowledge current realities, and actively support reconciliation.

We recognise that the RAP is an ongoing process, and we are committed to expanding and developing individually, as a team, and as an organisation. Our aim is to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritages is integrated so deeply and respectfully in the future that it becomes an intrinsic part of our identity, sense of belonging, and growth.
