Our vision for reconciliation at Tandara Children's Centre is for all jarjums, young people, educators and families to acknowledge and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.
We envision reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people, moving towards an Australia free from racism, prejudice and ignorance and full of respect, justice, understanding and acceptance.
We aim to challenge people’s biases, support jarjums and young people in their learning about First Nations peoples, cultures, languages and histories, acknowledging the true histories of Australia and the ongoing impacts of colonisation on First Nations peoples. We commit to supporting current and next generations of Australians to grow up with an understanding of, and respect for, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures perspectives and histories.
