VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Blue Emu Childrens Services acknowledges and values the cultural histories, heritages and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our vision for reconciliation is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised as being the First Nations peoples of Australia. Where all Australians respect First Nations Elders past, present and future for the wisdom and knowledge they hold. Educators play a crucial role in learning about and teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait peoples histories and cultures, in consultation with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, recognising the achievements, knowledge and spiritual connections to place. Blue Emu wants to be a part of an Australia, where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, children and families feel a sense of belonging and see their identities in their learning community and wider community; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultural identities are respected and they are valued in their surroundings; and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children are recognised and nurtured as the creators, thinkers and doers of today and tomorrow.
