VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is to build on our knowledge and understanding of the histories, perspectives and ways of being, doing and knowing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As educators, we want to share our understanding and knowledge with children, their families and the wider community to strengthen our connection to Country. We aim to support this by providing staff with meaningful opportunities to engage in professional development. This will help us to deepen our understanding of the histories, cultures and perspectives of the First Peoples of Australia and how respond to cultural diversity appropriately and authentically. Professional development will also help to challenge our biases, create opportunities for critical reflection and shape us into a service with a vision of putting reconciliation at the forefront of our practices.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, the Gundungurra people and strive to make ongoing connections and build respectful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, modelling this with the children, families and staff of our service. We also acknowledge the ongoing impacts of historical and ongoing inequalities and injustices, we strive to work in collaboration with  children, their families and the wider learning community to foster an environment that enables change.
