At North Nowra Preschool, we acknowledge and pay our respects to the Wodi Wodi People, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn and play. We also recognise and pay respect to the neighboring Wandi Wandian, Cullunghutti, Jerrinja and Wreck Bay communities. We thank them for sharing their land, water and stories with us and promise to remain committed to reconciliation. Â Â Â
Our vision for reconciliation is to create a preschool community where all children, families and educators develop a deep and genuine respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures. We understand that reconciliation is an ongoing journey of learning, reflection, and connection. Â Â Â
We believe that early childhood education provides a strong foundation for building this understanding. Through our everyday practices, environment, professional development and programming, we will embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices, stories, and knowledge in meaningful ways.    Â
We are committed to building respectful, reciprocal and long-term relationships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and community. These relationships will guide our teaching, strengthen cultural connections and ensure that children grow up with a strong sense of belonging and responsibility to care for Country and each other. We will create opportunities for learning about Country and on Country to further guide a connection to the Land. Â Â Â
Together we will gain knowledge and understanding, actively incorporate our vision for reconciliation into our practices and allow our preschool community to learn from the past to build a future committed to reconciliation.    Â
