VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. - Reconciliation Australia

At Kenny Street Community Preschool this means that we, along with children and families, are on a journey to learn as much as we can about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples histories, stories, cultures, and continuing contributions. We recognise that this must be a continuous and ongoing journey.

We respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our preschool program, environment and practice. We continuously strive to come together to build meaningful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people, particularly within our own local community.

Reconciliation must live in our hearts, minds and in the actions of all Australians. Educators commit to learning alongside children and to acknowledge the many inequalities and inequities that First Nations Peoples have faced since colonisation, as well as their strength and resilience in the face of these injustices.

We proudly acknowledge and respect the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn, and prosper and commit to caring for Country through sustainable practices and by caring for the plants and animals in our space.
