VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Byron Busy Kids, we believe that early learning is enriched through the deep inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives into our curriculum and pedagogy. We are committed to delivering early childhood education and care that reflects strong cultural awareness, respect, and an understanding for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples connections to Country. We acknowledge and honour the Arakwal people of the Bundjalung Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we live, learn and play. We strive to create and maintain a culturally safe and inclusive environment where jarjum (children), families, and educators walk together in the spirit of reconciliation. Our vision is to respectfully embed First Nations peoples histories, cultures, languages, and ways of knowing into every aspect of our service from daily routines and curriculum to community engagement and decision-making. We are committed to building meaningful, ongoing relationships with local Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, seeking their guidance as we deepen our cultural understanding and ensure authenticity in our practice. Reconciliation at Byron Busy Kids is not a one-off action but a continuous journey. Together with children, families, staff and the broader community, we reflect on our practices and commit to truth-telling, learning, and strengthening cultural connection every day. Through this, we nurture a generation of jarjum who grow with respect and empathy. We are committed to walking alongside local Elders and Aboriginal community members, listening, learning, and growing together on the path to reconciliation.
