At Possum Place Preschool and Early Learning Centre, we acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and custodians of the Land. We are intentionally creating an early learning environment where children, families, educators and community members feel welcomed, and where all cultures, traditions, and histories are valued and respected. Our programs include a focus on the ongoing learning about First Nation peoples, culture and perspectives, and building respectful relationships with the local First Nations community. We are committed to taking action against racism through education and a shared understanding of Australia's past and present.
We will continue to seek opportunities to deepen our learning about First Nation peoples, cultures and invite families and community members to contribute their knowledge and experiences. Future planning includes extending inclusive experiences, reflecting regularly on our curriculum for cultural relevance, and maintaining an environment where all voices are respected. Ongoing professional learning in cultural competence will remain our priority.
