VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At A Little Rei of Sunshine, we are committed to providing equal and equitable educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and all children in our community. We strive to create meaningful relationships and respectfully acknowledge the cultures, traditions, and teachings of First Nations peoples, past and present. We honour the Dharawal People, recognising their deep connection to the land, sea, and community on which we live, learn, and play. Through collaboration between educators, children, and families, we aim to build a community of learners that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. By engaging with local Elders, community leaders, and cultural organisations, we seek to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our curriculum and practices. Our commitment includes celebrating cultural events, supporting pathways for First Nations staff, and fostering cultural safety for all. We believe reconciliation is a journey of mutual respect, responsibility, and shared commitment. At A Little Rei of Sunshine, we are dedicated to listening, learning, and taking action to create a centre where First Nations voices are valued and inclusion is lived every day. Our centre believes in the power that educators, children and families hold when working together and building a community of learners. We believe in developing, maintaining and strengthening respectful partnerships. As stated in the 2008 National Apology, the reconciliation journey is about creating 'a future [built] on mutual respect, mutual resolve and mutual responsibility. We are committed to taking practical steps and actions to create meaningful and respectful connections with First Nations peoples in the community.

This statement reflects our ongoing commitment to listening, learning, and embedding First Nations perspectives across our programs, policies, and community engagement.
