VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Sunshine Kindy, we believe reconciliation begins with relationships, built on respect, truth-telling, and shared humanity. Guided by our service philosophy and inspired by our educators, families, and community, we are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where every child feels connected, respected, and valued. We honour the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, the First Australians, by embedding their voices, knowledge, and perspectives into our everyday practices. Through inclusive learning environments, meaningful community connections, and the guidance of local Elders and cultural educators, we strive to foster a deep respect for Country and a sense of belonging for all. Our vision is for every child to grow up with a strong understanding of the First Nations Peoples of Australia, their stories, resilience, and enduring connection to the land. We commit to walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities with honesty, openness, and compassion, as we work together toward a future grounded in respect, equity, and unity.

Our journey of reconciliation is underpinned by our 7 Power Words: Ubuntu through our care for one another and shared learning, Philotimo through pride in doing the right thing without being asked, Jeong by showing emotional consideration and thoughtfulness, Metta by helping others with kindness, Alofa through service to our team and community, Amae by making others feel safe in not knowing, and Hózhó by restoring harmony through quiet leadership.

Reconciliation at Sunshine Kindy is not a moment in time, but a continuous movement of the heart woven into how we teach, how we care, and how we come together as a learning community. We aim to lead with courage and compassion, ensuring that reconciliation is part of each childs journey and every educators commitment, today and for generations to come."
