VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation at Goodstart Merrylands, is one where all people, regardless of their background, are united in mutual respect, understanding, and equality. It is a nation where  First Nations peoples are  recognised for their enduring cultures, wisdom, and histories, and where their rights, traditions, and connection to the Land are acknowledged and upheld.

We aspire to create a society where the stories and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are woven into the fabric of Australian identity, from education to policy-making, to the arts and media. The achievements, aspirations, and contributions of First Nations peoples are celebrated alongside those of every Australian. We will embed a love for learning that allows children and educators to embark on a continued learning journey to further their knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures and ways of being. This will be implemented with guidance from the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, including the families and children we work with daily.

Through research and the use of the Early Years Learning Framework our curriculum will support children's learning and understanding of  Elders past and present.

Reconciliation is not an event, but a living process, an ongoing journey toward a truly inclusive and reconciled Australia.
