Our service upholds and recognises the importance of providing children, educators and families with the opportunity to regularly deepen their awareness of and  respect for  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly in our community. As a centre, we pride ourselves on taking actions to ensure our families and communities are part of our ongoing commitment to respecting past colonial injustices, while working in the present towards creating a more respectful future.  We view reconciliation as a collaborative approach, understanding of friendly relations between people of diverse cultures and traditions, and a focus on the relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.  Through our vision for reconciliation, our service ensures that we are fostering a sense of belonging for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples at our serivce, and all members of our educational and wider community. We aim to ensure we provide our community with the opportunities to engage in culturally responsive learning environments and programs. We will build and maintain respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Learnings developed through connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples will be respectfully embedded into our program. Through partnership with our children, families, staff and the wider community, we will work collaboratively to foster a journey of joint growth, knowledge and a deep understanding of the importance of reconciliation.  The Berry is committed to driving reconciliation for the benefit of all members of our educational and wider community through embedded, everyday day and future practices.        Â
