Our vision for reconciliation at Concord Kindergarten is the visible and active respect for, and acknowledge of, the unique connections that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to the Land on which our kindergarten is situated, Wangal Land.
We continue to build and maintain genuine, respectful relationships between children and families who attend our service and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In doing so, we commit to further developing our own personal knowledge about reconciliation and First Nations peoples, histories, cultures and ongoing contributions so that our practice will be relevant, meaningful and reflective of the past, present and future caretakers of the local community.
We will utilise authentic resources to build children's knowledge, encouraging and supporting educators to further their knowledge through critical reflection, research, professional development opportunities, and by referencing the EYLF for best practice. We will further explore the Dharug language, ensuring that educators are provided with the opportunity to facilitate discussions and experiences with children as they develop connections with, and respect for, the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our preschool is situated.
