At Papilio Early Learning Centre, located on the Lands of the Darug and Guringai Peoples of the Hornsby area, we envision a future where reconciliation is embedded in our everyday actions, relationships, and learning. We acknowledge the deep and ongoing connection that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture, and community.
We pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians of this Land, the Darug and Guringai Peoples, and recognise their enduring custodianship, wisdom, and resilience. We honour Elders past and present and acknowledge the important role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to play in our community.
Our vision is for a culturally safe and inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, staff, and community members feel respected, heard, and empowered. We are committed to creating spaces where cultural identities are celebrated, and histories are truthfully and respectfully shared.
We believe reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires deep listening, meaningful relationships, and collective responsibility. Through inclusive education, community collaboration, and reflective practice, we strive to ensure that First Nations perspectives are embedded in our centre's culture, curriculum and daily experiences.
As part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we commit to continued learning and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as we work together toward a more just, equitable, and reconciled future: here in Hornsby and beyond.
