At KU St Ives Barra Brui Pre School, we acknowledge we are on the Land of the Darramurragal people. For tens of thousands of years, the Darramurragal people took care of this Land, they were the first teachers, learners, scientists, artists and explorers. We accept and acknowledge our shared histories and have much to learn. We are committed to walking together, acknowledging Australia's true histories and how the ongoing impacts of colonisation shapes the present and the reconciled future we are working towards. Our vision of reconciliation must live in our hearts and minds and in all of our daily actions. Reconciliation means having the courage to acknowledge past mistakes and work in unity to repair and build relationships and friendships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, which are based on trust and respect. We are committed to educating children about the future whilst incorporating a sense of being, belonging and becoming. We will respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples shared knowledge, ways of knowing, histories, and experiences and embed these perspectives and contributions with integrity and unity as part of our preschool environment. Â
