VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Port Augusta Secondary School, we recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia, with deep connections to Country and enduring cultural, spiritual and educational practices. We will acknowledge the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their cultures and histories, and continue to build and maintain respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians, based on the principles of trust, truth, equity, inclusion and anti- racism. We acknowledge the ongoing impact of colonisation and past injustices and continue to have a  strong focus on improved learning outcomes and pathways for all students, and that each student, learns about the truthful history of our nation, learning in a culturally safe place where all feel welcomed.   We will strive to deliver a quality inclusive curriculum and be a school which teaches about and addresses racism and look forward to a Reconciled Australia, which listens to Aboriginal voices, and ensures respect and equity for all.   Our vision is that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including students, will have a voice in decision making about matters which affect them. Our vision is  that staff are provided with opportunities and undertake training and learning , to become more culturally aware and responsive.
