Pedares vision for reconciliation is guided by our Christian beliefs, and a commitment to listen and learn to voices and perspectives of First Nations Peoples. We prioritise ongoing, sustainable relationships based on respect and understanding between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people.Â
As a faith community we aspire to a reconciled Australia where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, with equal and equitable opportunities to flourish. As a diverse community, we commit to fostering a College culture where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and all people are respected.Â
We continue to be a community that nurtures and supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and all students. Our College is a place where the diversities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures are acknowledged and respected. Â
We recognise the cultures, histories and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are integral to creating a reconciled future. Â
Our vision for Pedare is as a place where reconciliation is embedded in the lived actions of our community every day. We promote social responsibility and accountability, underpinned by truth telling. Â
It is our responsibility to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives in our curriculum; it is through education that students, staff and the wider community will learn the concepts of justice, empathy and understanding.Â
We acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the Traditional Custodians of Lands across the continent of Australia, and we recognise their deep belonging and their continued spiritual connections to Country.Â
