VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

The word Kar-din-yarr is believed to come from the Kulin language, meaning look to the rising sun. As a school situated within this landscape, we are reminded daily of the First Peoples deep spiritual connections to place, the cycles of nature, and the wisdom of walking gently on Country. Through the values of reverence, respect, responsibility, and resilience, Dandenong Ranges Steiner School is committed to nurturing truth, understanding, and reconciliation. We strive to create respectful and authentic relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians, grounded in listening, learning, and mutual care. We also aim to respectfully include First Peoples perspectives, histories, and cultures in our curriculum, recognising the vital importance of truth-telling, cultural awareness, and shared knowledge in shaping a more just and inclusive future. We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey, and we walk this path with humility and purpose awknowledging the depth, wisdom, and resilience of the worlds oldest continuous cultures. Through the strength of our will, the warmth of our hearts, and the depth of our feeling, we strive to respectfully include First Peoples perspectives in all that we do.
