Badger Creek Primary School is a Sanctuary For Learning. We are committed to reconciliation with First Nations people. We work in partnership with our families to strengthen relationships between the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, so we grow together. We embed reconciliation into our work so that we can provide an inclusive and nurturing environment focused on achieving the best curriculum and learning outcomes for every child. We acknowledge the long history of the Wurundjeri people of the Woi Wurrung language group as the Traditional Custodians of the Land that Badger Creek Primary School is set on. We acknowledge the ongoing impact of colonisation to the First Nations People and the role that the education system has played in that process. We acknowledge our school is located on Coranderrk land and acknowledge the dedication of the Woiwurring, Boonwurrung and Taungurung Elders who established Coranderrks original school and its first students. Through collaboration and shared stories with our community, we will ensure our journey is a genuine partnership. We will listen to the First Nations People(s), strive for allyship and work together on our reconciliation journey. We value the strengths and contributions of our community, and we will live it together. We welcome authentic opportunities for Elders and Traditional Custodians to share their cultures, history and knowledge by providing a culturally safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment. We strive to develop authentic, rich, positive and confident relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Badger Creeks school values reflect our commitment to being inclusive and culturally safe for all children and their families.Â
