VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Our vision for reconciliation is to foster a culturally inclusive school where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives are embedded meaningfully in all areas of learning. We are committed to creating a safe and respectful environment where every Koorie student feels seen, valued, and empowered. Over the past three years, our school has made reconciliation a priority. We have built strong partnerships, formed Student Support Groups, and invited Koorie parents to join our school councilensuring their voices help shape decisions. We recognise the importance of listening deeply, learning respectfully, and sharing stories that honour truth and lived experience. Weve embedded First Nations ways of knowing, being and doing, as well as histories, cultures and perspectives into students learning experiences. Our learning is grounded in Country and connected to local culture. Staff engage in ongoing professional learning to deconstruct and reconstruct their practice through a culturally responsive lens. Student voice and community guidance are central to this journey. We commit to strengthening ties with local Elders, embedding language and cultural protocols, creating culturally safe spaces. Reconciliation at Milawa PS is not a projectit is a way of being. Together, we walk with respect, responsibility, and hope for a shared future.
