At Emerson Special School OSHC, our vision for reconciliation is grounded in respect, truth, and meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to building an inclusive and culturally safe community where First Nations peoples, histories, cultures, and contributions are deeply honoured and actively acknowledged.     

We respectfully acknowledge the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which our school stands. We recognise their enduring connection to Land, language, and traditions, and commit to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our teaching, learning, and everyday practices in ways that are respectful, authentic, empowering, and accessible.  

Childrens education is central to our reconciliation journey. We embrace the unique strengths and abilities of every child, fostering environments where they feel respected, proud of who they are, and have a strong sense of belonging. Through inclusive learning experiences, we aim to cultivate cultural understanding, empathy, and appreciation for diversity enabling children to grow as informed, respectful citizens of an Australia enriched by its First Nations heritage.

We walk this path with humility and integrity, guided by a deep respect for the past, present, and future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through education, dialogue, and celebration, we strive to build strong connections with First Nations communities and contribute meaningfully to healing, inclusion, and reconciliation.
