Mitcham Primary School envisions reconciliation as unity, learning, and respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people.
Through authentic partnerships, we strive to cultivate a profound respect for the histories, cultures, wisdom, and ongoing contributions of the First Peoples of Australia, ensuring our ongoing journey of reconciliation is informed by First Nations peoples’ voices. We recognise that reconciliation is a continuous process, one in which our entire school community plays a part in meaningful discussion and learning about truth-telling.
We respect the spiritual connections First Nations peoples have to the land, sky and waterways, and aim to enhance our understanding of First Nations values and perspectives. We envision walking together in harmony, committing to building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community.
Our vision for reconciliation is a future where all Australians recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories as integral to a shared national identity.
